Call for Members for the new Edge Gateway Working Group

Grid edge computing has become both a market and business imperative as it provides one of the most effective ways to create value-generating business operations. To that end, DLMS User Association members, including industry leaders Acklio, DNV, EPFL, Iskrameco, Itron, Kaifa, Landis & Gyr, Renasas, Sense and Sagemcom have formed a new Working Group to look at how the DLMS Standard could be applied to support grid edge computing.

The new Edge Gateway Working Group is actively seeking new members. The call for members is open to all DLMS in Good Standing with full membership or a higher membership level. The Edge Gateway Working Group, under the guidance of its chairman, Mr. John Doyle, Director of Market & Technology Development, Itron, will work on defining in greater detail the scope of work for this new working group over the coming weeks.

With the new applications and business cases evolving due to edge computing, a standardized approach will be required to combine data from multiple sources and share data across various ecosystems from regulated to consumer markets. By developing use cases and Generic Companion Profiles for DLMS/COSEM application in these cases, the Association aims to support its members by developing standardized API’s to open the standardized secured data access from third-party edge AI based applications.
