DLMS UA and Österreichs Energie Sign Liaison Agreement to Advance Smart Metering Standards and Regulatory Alignment in Austria

DLMS UA and Österreichs Energie are pleased to announce the signing of a liaison agreement aimed at strengthening their collaboration in the development and promotion of smart metering standards and regulatory alignment in Austria.

Österreichs Energie is the association representing Austria’s electricity industry, encompassing grid operators, suppliers, and energy service providers. It plays a central role in shaping the regulatory, technical, and strategic direction of the electricity sector in Austria.

Through this agreement, the two organizations commit to jointly promoting interoperability, aligning technical and regulatory frameworks, and encouraging the broader adoption of standards across the Austrian energy sector.

As part of this collaboration, DLMS UA and Österreichs Energie will work to strengthen their common position in the field of electricity smart metering by promoting shared visions, coordinated strategies, and innovative technical solutions that support market development.

The agreement also establishes a framework for aligning future activities. The organizations will coordinate their respective roadmaps to ensure that initiatives undertaken by Österreichs Energie are in line with the ongoing development of DLMS UA standards, while DLMS UA will ensure its data exchange protocols remain responsive to evolving regulatory needs as recommended by Österreichs Energie.

Furthermore, both parties have agreed to cooperate in supporting the definition and ongoing maintenance of directives and regulations under the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) and relevant national laws that are applicable to both organizations.

This liaison agreement marks a significant step in fostering an open, standards-based ecosystem that supports the evolving needs of the Austrian energy landscape, its regulatory bodies, and energy consumers.
