DLMS UA and CEPRI Sign Liaison Agreement to Advance Smart Metering Standardization in China

DLMS User Association (DLMS UA) is pleased to announce the signing of a liaison agreement with the China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI). The strategic partnership marks a significant step in fostering a strong alliance and close cooperation between the two organizations in the field of smart metering data exchange.

DLMS/COSEM is the internationally recognized and widely used standard for smart metering. According to IDC, approximately 294 million smart electricity meters worldwide have been deployed using that DLMS/COSEM data model.

In China, DL/T 698.45 “Object Oriented Data Exchange Protocol” is a widely used power industry standard, with approximately 800 million smart electricity meters deployed using this protocol.

In response to the accelerating pace of globalization, both parties have agreed that integrating DL/T 698.45 into DLMS/COSEM framework and cooperating on certification testing based on this standard will enable complementary strengths and deliver mutual benefits.

“We are thrilled to join forces with CEPRI to advance the integration of DLMS/COSEM and DL/T 698.45 standards, enabling the revised DLMS/COSEM to meet a wider global market demand.” said Sergio Lazzarotto, President & Executive Director of DLMS UA.  “This agreement also reflects the growing recognition of DLMS/COSEM as the universal data format for smart metering, and we look forward to working together to bring this vision to life.”

“We are pleased to collaborate with DLMS UA to jointly develop and enhance the international standard for smart metering data exchange protocol.” said Gao Bo, Director of the Department of Metrology of CEPRI.  “This agreement lays the foundation for CEPRI to become a DLMS UA certified testing laboratory.”
