Java DLMS for the Smart Metering
In the metering area for electricity and gas, e-utile has developed different solutions for both remote reading, (collection of data on consumption) and remote management and smart metering (remote control of measurement instruments).
e-MM - the Smart Metering Solution developed by e-utile
e-MM solution contains:
> the Remote Management System, providing high level user interaction agnostic about technicalities
> the Massive Rollout Accelerator, named after the success of managing the rollout in the transition between traditional and smart metering, but anyway fitted to mange smart meters on the field through PDA when the nature of the job itself or a temporary lack of communication forces such a necessity;
> the Universal Head End, which manages technological differences and dispatches communication between its internal adapters, specialized in terms of channels (GPRS, GSM, SMS, PSTN,), protocol and functional idiosyncrasies of meters and concentrators of different brands.
The Universal Head End inside eMM is the key component which enables the integration with different technologies. Of course, one of the protocol adapter present in UHE is dedicated to DLMS. It is named JavaDLMS after the Java technology used throughout the whole e-MM solution in order to guarantee full portability.
This features make the IT system totally open and independent from the field devices enabling the remote management of different types of meters for different services (water, gas, electricity, district heating, etc.) as well and the exchange of information through a single IT system.
The JavaDLMS protocol adapter allows also e-MM to fit the regulations defined for gas smart metering by Italian Authority for Electricity and Gas (AEEG - Autorità per l’Energia Elettrica e il Gas) and Italian Gas Committee (CIG - Comitato Italiano Gas). e-MM Gas enables Utilities to face future market developments in the e-MM Gas smart metering.
e-MM Gas based on the experience gathered in the past in the remote reading solutions for the consumption of LPG and methane gas and in the remote management of more than 2 millions of electricity meters.
Being among the most advanced solutions on the market, e-MM (also DB portability is granted by a Data Abstraction Layer) offers adjustable workflows, a scalable and modular design and extensive integration assuring the solution's effectiveness even in the most complex multi-service environments and in market scenarios characterized by several actors.
The architecture designed by e-utile allows also complete integration with different ERP systems (e.g. SAP).
