Can I use DLMS/COSEM over the internet?

The DLMS UA has specified a communication profile based on TCP/IP, allowing data exchange via the Internet. This is described in the Green Book (Edition 5 or higher), or in IEC 62056-53 and in IEC 62056-47 standards. New interface classes and OBIS codes have been defined in the Blue Book (Edition 7 or higher), or Edition 2 of IEC 6205661 and IEC 62056-62.

As in any communication profile, the top layer is the COSEM Application layer, providing services for application layer level connection establishment and release - AARQ, AARE and AARL services (this latter in the new TCP/IP based profile only) - and for data exchange using either logical name referencing - GET/SET/ACTION/EventNotification - or short name referencing - Read, Write, UnconfirmedWrite, InfomationReport.
