98-4 Value Added Services

The 2nd General Meeting

The General Meeting of the DLMS User Association took place on 29 October, 1998, during the DA/DSM in London. The Management Committee has been elected, the annual report and the accounts have been accepted.

The "blue book", the COSEM Interface Objects first edition, was distributed in an excerpt form, which was also available at the booth of the DLMS User Association. A fully upward compatible second edition is planned to be released in February 1999, and it is foreseen to put this extended version on the table of standardising bodies soon after.

This "blue book" is now more then just a theoretical description of metering objects like register, clock, etc., it was shown implemented in meters at the booth of the DLMS User Association. Also more complex DLMS based meters were demonstrated.

The Working Group "Value Added Services"

The Working Group VAS with title "COSEM objects for Value Added Services" had already its second meeting in London. The scope of the working group is:

- Enhance Customer Services by selecting relevant applications
- Defining the objects to provide the selected Value Added Services
- Focus is on remote control applications and event reporting

The selected objects (with the highest priority) are:

- Alarms for different purposes
- Remote controls/commands
- Gateway to Home/Building Automation

First the related applications will be defined in more detail. Also economical and performance aspects are taken in account. Then the missing objects will be specified and extended to the existing COSEM model.

This work should be done in about 6 months.
